‘DRAGON DYNASTY’ AT PAVILION KUALA LUMPUR


Pavilion Kuala Lumpur exudes imperial mastery this Year of the Dragon with its ‘Dragon Dynasty’ Chinese New Year celebrations until 25 February 2024. The highlight of this year’s festive decorations features two magnificent golden dragons, guardians of the precious oriental pearl, descending from the auspicious clouds into Pavilion KL’s Centre Court, enveloping the mall with blessings of wealth, good luck and happiness. Elements reminiscent of mystical mountain tops pay homage to Chinese folklore, creating a rich and immersive experience. 

 


For a second consecutive year, Pavilion KL is partnering with Lancôme to add a touch of beauty to the festive celebration. Lancôme has embellished the Pavilion Crystal Fountain and Main Entrance in line with their 'Make Your Legend Bloom' theme, seamlessly blending tradition with modern elegance through blooming spring flowers, dragon motifs and oriental lanterns. 



Shoppers can venture into the Lancôme Dragon Tunnel, explore limited edition Chinese New Year products, and partake in exclusive podium activities. 



Don’t miss the captivating Lancôme setup with synchronised 3D screens at Pavilion KL and Fahrenheit88, showcasing the Lancôme Dragon and iconic products, exclusively showing till 31 Jan 2024. Adding another layer to the immersive experience, shoppers can also scan a QR code for a special augmented reality filter, bringing the Lancôme Dragon to life.

 


This Chinese New Year, shoppers enjoy a rich tapestry of entertainment and cultural experiences. Get in the festive spirit with vibrant performances and walkabouts from the Prosperity Dragon Mascots every Saturday from 20 January to 24 February 2024 at 2pm, and special appearances by the God of Prosperity every Sunday from 21 January to 25 February at 2pm. Don’t miss the magnificent performances at the Main Entrance, with acrobatic lion dance and dragon dance performances taking place on select days from 20 January to 25 February at 5pm; a stunning violin performance by The Music Professionals Academy of Performing Arts on 21 January 2024 at 12pm; and a Resonance of a ‘New Year’ by Taylor's International School on 4 February 2024 at 1pm. Parents, don’t forget to bring your children to check out the KL Junior Fashion Show by A-List Academy happening 20 January 2024 at 12pm, featuring children parading in their Chinese New Year outfits from participating brands such as Parkson Elite, ANTA, Skechers, Rookie, and Guess Kids.

 


Throughout the campaign, the Centre Court offers cultural immersion experiences where shoppers can select from imperial showpieces to Chinoiserie-inspired style costumes by Gisselle Liu, get their hair and makeup done, and strike a pose against poignant backdrops. Various booths will be available from tenants like YuYan Tea, Taimal Herbs, Herbal Farmer, Koun na Neko, and Gisselle Liu – perfect for festive shopping and gifting. Make sure to also write a wish for the new year and make an auspicious toss into the Prosperity Wishing Tree at the Centre Court – if your wish catches on the branches, it is believed your wish will come true!

 


From January 16 to February 4 2024, an Astro pop-up at Connection offers shoppers the chance to meet Astro celebrities, engage in weekend activities hosted by Astro Radio DJs, and win #HappyDragons Chinese New Year Angpow and premium merchandise!

SUNPLAY | ‘WE CARE FOR THE OCEAN 2023’ CAMPAIGN SUCCESSFULLY CLEANS 1,490 KG OF TRASH FROM MALAYSIAN BEACHES


Sunplay, Malaysia's trusted sunscreen brand, announced its success in concluding its third annual CSR initiative, ‘We Care for the Ocean 2023’. In partnership with Watsons, the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), and climate action advocate Melissa Tan, a significant impact has been made on beach pollution across seven locations in Malaysia.

 


"Partnering with Watsons, the MNS, and Melissa Tan has truly amplified our efforts and made this campaign an extraordinary success, and we were able to fundraise RM40,000 throughout the month of November,” said Lim Mei Yuen, General Manager of Rohto-Mentholatum (M) Sdn Bhd.


 



Lim further expressed, “We are thrilled about the high volume of trash we managed to remove from our beaches”. 

 


This year's campaign mobilised a remarkable 256 volunteers, who collectively cleaned up an impressive total of 1,490kg of trash across seven beaches in Malaysia, exceeding last year's total of 1,348kg. 

 


The efforts were spread out over a variety of locations, including Pantai Sekendi in Sabak, Selangor, where 165.9kg were collected; Pantai Sungai Kajang in Tanjong Karang, Selangor, with 720.9kg; Pantai Redang in Sekinchan, Selangor, contributing 80.3kg; Pantai Batu Laut in Tanjung Sepat, Selangor, clearing 23kg; Pantai Cunang in Tanjung Sepat, Selangor, accumulating 116kg; Pantai Blue Lagoon in Negeri Sembilan, adding 284.3kg; and Pantai Morib in Selangor, rounding it off with 99.2kg.

 

"We strongly feel that the core focus of this campaign resonates with our organisation's mission, as it emphasises conservation and appreciation of nature. To further add, we were delighted to join hands with the team when we first learned about this initiative, as it offers us a chance to contribute to environmental preservation", states MNS Executive Director, Mr. I.S. Shanmugaraj.

 


"I believe we need to not only raise awareness about ocean pollution but to galvanise Malaysians to take action. We need to stop plastic pollution at the source. What we choose to use or not use everyday, directly contributes to the problem. I hope every bag of trash collect motivates everyone to create one less bag of trash everyday too," mentioned Melissa Tan, Climate Action and Sustainability Advocate.
