Pos Malaysia Run 2024 | Celebrating Health Together With Community

Pos Malaysia Berhad (“Pos Malaysia”), the national post and parcel service provider’s long-awaited flagship running event, Pos Malaysia Run 2024 debuted with a bang last Sunday on 29 September 2024, drawing more than 3,500 eager participants and their families to come together to celebrate health and community.

The inaugural run successfully turned the popular Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur into a bustling playground for runners of all ages and fitness levels as they set out to conquer three featured distances – Fun Run (6.2km), 10km and 15km.

“Last Sunday was truly a historic event for Pos Malaysia,” said Fiona Liao, Pos Malaysia’s Group Chief Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer. “After months of planning and eager announcements, our first-ever run burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion. It was an incredible feeling to welcome so many runners at the starting line and see waves of them flooding the streets of KL city centre while living up to our theme of ‘Jom Laju for Fun!’.”

In line with its vision for a greener event, Pos Malaysia deployed electric bikes for marshal and operational support during the run while leading the runners for the 15km category was EON’s Smart 1 electric car.

Additionally, the event’s running tees were made from 100% recycled materials, and the specially designed finisher medals were crafted from recycled plastic zip ties and metal.

What set this run apart was the direct delivery of race packs to participants in eco- friendly packaging via Pos Malaysia’s electric vehicles as part of the Company’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions.

This move was particularly well-received by participants who appreciated the convenience of not having to travel to a collection venue.

“Not only does this run celebrate Pos Malaysia’s heritage, it also reinforces our commitment to community building and healthy living with a focus on environmental responsibility. This is why we are especially proud to have made history as the first run in Malaysia to use reusable cups made from PP5 recyclable materials at all our water stations,” added Liao.

The event kicked off with an energising warm-up session, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day. Participants were treated to a festive atmosphere, complete with live music, food trucks, various games and activities, and lucky draws. Awards were given to top finishers in the 10km and 15km categories, along with a special prize for ‘Jaguh Bukit Award’, fostering a sense of camaraderie and friendly competition.

The success of the first Pos Malaysia Run 2024 was made possible with the support from EON Berhad, the main automotive partner, together with official sponsors Allianz Malaysia Berhad, Bank Muamalat, Cuckoo, Liberty Insurance, Spin, Tokio Marine Insurance and Yinson Green Tech.

Also lending their support to the event were SkyBlue Media, Reebok, Chek Hup, Milo, Nature Loop, Sunway Theme Park, Blood, Opack, Perkeso, Mal-Tel Communication, Pos Aviation and Pos Shop.

“We are thankful to all the participants, and our partners and sponsors for their generous support. As we concluded our maiden run on a high note, we look forward to building on this year’s success and making the Pos Malaysia Run a beloved annual tradition in 2025 and beyond,” said Liao.

Flash the Cheetah gets adopted by CHEETAH at Zoo Negara Kuala Lumpur

Cheetah Holdings Berhad (Cheetah), which owns and manages the popular CHEETAH brand of apparels, today adopted 'Flash,' a 5-year-old male cheetah that calls Zoo Negara his home.

The adoption programme, which is valued at RM18,700 annually, is a testament to the company's commitment to preserving endangered species and supporting national conservation efforts. In addition, Cheetah and Zoo Negara also launched a limited-edition Cheetah X Zoo Negara collection.

The collection is a celebration of the company's namesake and is inspired by the beauty, grace and speed of the cheetah. Cheetah will be contributing 10% of the total sales of this collection to Zoo Negara for its operating expenses and conservation programmes. In marking this unique public-private partnership, nearly 100 employees from Cheetah volunteered their time and effort this morning to clean and beautify the zoo and its surroundings.

The activity involved assisting zookeepers in providing daily care for the wildlife, including husbandry, exhibit cleaning, food preparation, and animal behavioural enrichment activities. Roy Ho Yew Kee, Executive Director of Cheetah Holdings Berhad, said, "A cheetah is a symbol of speed, agility, and resilience.

By adopting Flash, we as an organisation are reminded of our core values as well as our commitment towards sustainable value creation for all our stakeholders." "Our initiative today also allows our employees to play an active part in the conservation of our flora and fauna while at the same time, CHEETAH fans and members of the public can also contribute positively through the CHEETAH X Zoo Negara collection," he added.

The adoption programme will provide essential support for the cheetah's care, feeding, and medical needs as well as contributing to Zoo Negara's broader conservation and educational initiatives. Now five years old, Flash has grown into a healthy adult cheetah at Zoo Negara.

Born on June 6, he was one of two surviving cubs rescued by zookeepers after their mother, Tianna, began exhibiting natural instincts to eliminate weaker offspring. Raised by humans from an early age, Flash developed a mild demeanour and has adapted well to his environment.

Over the years, he has continued to thrive, showing the playful and active traits typical of cheetahs, but now with the strength and agility of an adult. Flash remains a vital part of Zoo Negara’s cheetah population, showcasing the success of the zoo’s careful and dedicated animal care.

Cheetah’s strategic collaboration with Zoo Negara is in tandem with its broader sustainability strategy aimed at enhancing environmental conservatism, supporting wildlife conservation and enriching the lives of people in communities where the company operates in.
