Shopee X Sasbadi | RM50 Million Benefits For Malaysian Students In Educational Materials

 


Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia & Taiwan, has officially partnered with Sasbadi, Malaysia’s leading publication house and education solutions provider, to empower students in achieving their educational goals. The partnership was launched to make high-quality learning and revision materials more accessible to the Malaysian student community, giving them access to the right tools to succeed in their studies.



Commencing on 1 July 2023, Shopee commits 50 million ringgit to help students purchase educational materials to assist them in achieving academic excellence. This is carried out via 20 ringgit cash equivalent vouchers with no minimum spend that can be redeemed on any educational materials available at Sasbadi’s Official Shopee Store, exclusively for new Shopee customers. Throughout the year, these vouchers will be printed in selected Sasbadi publications and distributed through Shopee and bookstores across the country.

We trust Shopee to make available this much-needed support to students across Malaysia, particularly underserved communities who need it the most, and we will continue to explore all avenues for raising awareness about such efforts,” said Law King Hui, Group Managing Director and Co-Founder of Sasbadi.

Shopee took a similar step in May 2022 when it collectively raised nearly 300 thousand ringgit for *#ShopeeGivesBack partners like UNICEF Malaysia in meeting critical needs of marginalised children and their families in Covid-19.



During the year-long campaign, Shopee’s platform will serve easy-access offerings tailored to students’ needs based on data-driven insights. Specifically, students’ searches for educational needs, such as practical notebooks or school supplies, educational textbooks, educational aid devices, and extra-curricular supplies. Concurrently, Sasbadi’s publications, available on Shopee and in bookshops nationwide, will incorporate the 20-ringgit vouchers, allowing students to conveniently redeem them for educational materials at Sasbadi’s Official Shopee Store on the platform.

Andrew said the gel pen is an important business segment for Faber-Castell Malaysia. According to a study by Kantar, the world’s leading data, insights and consulting company, the market size of gel pens in 2019 stands at RM43 million in Malaysia.

 

Persistence Market Research’s published report in 2020 state that the global writing instruments market is expected to expand 1.5 times by 2030. Students represent the biggest opportunity in terms of end users in the writing instruments market and is on track to expand at a CAGR of around 5 percent through 2030. Among the stationery product types, the pen segment account for a significant share of approximately 60 percent in the global writing instruments market.

[1] Viscosity refers to the measure of a liquid’s ability to resist flow. A thick liquid does not flow easily as it has high viscosity while a thin liquid that readily flows has low viscosity. When an ultra-low viscosity ink is used, less pressure needs to be applied to a pen which translates to a clean and smooth writing performance.

Scholastic Reading Lounge For Children And Families Opens In Sunway Pyramid, Level 1, Blue Zone



Scholastic, the world’s largest children’s book publisher and distributor today has officially launched the brand new Scholastic Reading Lounge in Sunway Pyramid


The Scholastic Reading Lounge is the first program in the country to be recognised this year as part of the KL World Book Capital 2020 (KLWBC2020).


Thank you for promoting reading habits for family especially kids! The Scholastic Reading Lounge is created by Scholastic in collaboration with Sunway Malls with the objective to promote literacy and bonding for families. 


The lounge is equipped with Scholastic bestselling books that cater to children across all ages and will host regular reading activities and workshops, encouraging families to read together.


Speaking at the launch, Selina Lee, Asia Vice President of Scholastic shared, “In today’s world where everyone in the family is looking at their phones more than they are talking to each other, reading should not be an activity we expect children to do on their own in isolation. Just as eating together as a family is important to help a family connect and build relationships, reading together becomes more impactful and meaningful for children when it’s done together with the family.”


Selina Lee also shared that according to a reading habit study conducted by Scholastic, 40% of children ages 6-11 still wish their parents would read to them. Meanwhile, 85% of children ages 6 – 14 who are or have been read-aloud to consider the activity as a special time with their parents.


On behalf of the advisory committee of KLWBC2020, Mr. Arief Hakim Sani Rahmat, President of Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA) said, “We’re pleased to have Scholastic as KLWBC2020 partner.
