Happy 57th Birthday guardian Malaysia | Marks its 57th Birthday by Continuing to Nurture the Beauty and Wellbeing of Malaysians

guardian Malaysia celebrates its 57th year of operations with a series of activities that reinforce its commitment to nurturing the beauty and wellbeing of Malaysians. These activities include:

Pink October campaign in collaboration with Kundal and The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) to raise awareness, expand access, and drive action in the nation’s fight against breast cancer.

The launch of new, exclusive beauty and wellbeing brands in guardian Malaysia’s stores nationwide and online, culminating in an official event later this month at guardian The Exchange TRX mall to celebrate these exciting new offerings.

An exclusive 57% discount promotion on the purchase of the second item across 3,000 products, available both in-store and online throughout the month.

Through these initiatives, guardian Malaysia aims to remind and encourage Malaysians from all walks of life to prioritize nurturing their own beauty and wellbeing.

Anna Ng, Marketing Director of guardian Malaysia, emphasized:

“Outer beauty and inner wellbeing require daily nurturing. This includes having knowledge about what’s good for you and being able to access the ‘right choice’ of beauty and wellbeing products.”

Pink October: Guardian Malaysia Steps Up in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Breast cancer remains the #1 cancer affecting women in Malaysia, with 1 in 19 women being diagnosed. Due to a lack of awareness and low rates of early detection—especially among lower-income households—nearly half of the cases are only confirmed in the late stages (Stages 3 and 4).

This has resulted in a low 5-year survival rate of 66.8% which is much lower than other Asian countries such as Singapore (79%), South Korea (92.6%), and Japan (96.2%).

Early detection is crucial in combating breast cancer. In partnership with Kundal and The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), guardian Malaysia will introduce an exclusive Pink Glove breast self-examination kit.

It includes a scrub glove with self-examination steps, two bottles of body wash, and one body scrub, retailing at RM23.88.

For every Pink Glove kit sold, part of proceeds will be contributed to NCSM to support work in education, awareness, and early detection programs for breast cancer.

Additionally, 10,000 Pink Glove kits will be set aside and distributed by NCSM to underprivileged women across Malaysia.

Dr. Murallitharan Munisamy
, Managing Director of NCSM, said:

“We are grateful to guardian Malaysia for stepping up efforts to improve access to breast cancer self-examinations. The Pink Glove kit, coupled with the awareness campaign, donation drive, and distribution to underprivileged women, offers a holistic approach to addressing breast cancer across all demographics.”

Throughout Pink October, guardian will run a digital campaign to raise awareness about early detection, including a video by Dr. Tan Gie Hooi, Breast & Oncoplastic Surgeon, on the importance of early detection.

Additionally, NCSM will host informative sessions on breast cancer awareness at guardian The Exchange TRX mall from 21 to 27 October 2024, alongside educational and screening campaigns targeting underprivileged communities at Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Hiliran Ampang.

guardian CSR Donates Body Wash to Underprivileged Children | Together, Keeping Kids Clean and Healthy Community Service Campaign

guardian Malaysia recently conducted a heartwarming initiative by providing 2,844 bottles of body wash to the children of PPR Kampung Muhibbah at Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. The event, attended by 100 children from the PPR together with their parents, marked a significant step in guardian's commitment to its regional #guardiancares Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign titled Together, Keeping Kids Clean and Healthy”.

Anna Ng, Marketing Director at guardian Malaysia, expressed her delight in contributing to children's hygiene and well-being under this program. She highlighted the importance of ensuring that every child has access to basic hygiene, emphasizing that it is a fundamental human right.

Ng stated, "Keeping clean and healthy is not a luxury but a basic necessity, especially for children from low-income families. We believe that maintaining personal hygiene not only safeguards physical health but also boosts self-esteem and enhances mental well-being."

In 2023, guardian successfully provided 20 million baths to underprivileged children across Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Cambodia. This equated to over 40,000 bottles of bath care products donated to Malaysian children alone. Building on this achievement, guardian has set a target of doubling its impact in 2024, aiming to provide 40 million baths to those in need in the region.

The donation of 2,844 bottles of body wash to the children of PPR Kampung Muhibbah represents a significant contribution toward this goal, providing 800,000 baths for the recipients.  Mr. Abdul Aziz bin Mohidie, the Head of the Rukun Tetangga of PPR Muhibbah 2 said, This is a good initiative as it helps to lighten the burden of families besides being great for kids to learn how to keep clean and healthy.”

In addition to distributing bath care products, guardian organized an interactive session on Good Hygiene Practices to educate 100 children present on maintaining personal hygiene effectively. A pharmacist from guardian, together with guardian team members were at hand to share with the children the steps to properly clean their hands and how best to maintain overall body hygiene, besides playing some Q&A quizzes with the children.

As a re-cap of this Together, Keeping Kids Clean and Healthy” campaign, guardian pledges to donate 15 sen for every one litre of guardian bath care product sold in Malaysia towards purchasing bath care products for underprivileged children. Furthermore, the specially designed #guardiancares Bear, priced at RM29.90, will be available for purchase, with all proceeds contributing to the #guardiancares fund supporting the bath care needs of underprivileged children in Malaysia.

Moreover, a special #guardiancares Bear Hooded Towel will be sold at RM29.90 in all guardian stores nationwide, as well as through guardians online platforms. Proceeds from the sales of both the #guardiancares Bear and the Hooded Towel will be dedicated to the #guardiancares fund.

In a separate initiative, guardian also extended its support to three charity organizations chosen by the winners of the Face of Healthy Beauty 2023 competition. Aqila Afindi, Nur Izzatul Aqma Bt Ludin, and Candace Cheah selected beneficiaries to receive RM5,000 worth of guardian Bath Care products each.

Aqila Afindi directed her donation to the children of Pusat Jagaan Rumah Bakti Nur Ain in Bangi, Selangor, while Nur Izzatul Aqma chose to support the children of Pusat Jagaan Nur Sakinah Damansara Damai, Kuala Lumpur.

Candace Yap, a final year Veterinary Science student, opted to donate her prize to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Selangor, based in Ampang Jaya, Kuala Lumpur. Candace contributed personal care products such as sanitizers, hand and body wash products to safeguard the well-being of volunteers and staff at SPCA after handling animals.

guardians multifaceted efforts underscore its commitment to fostering hygiene and well-being among underprivileged children and communities, reflecting its dedication to corporate social responsibility and community welfare.

Thank you guardian for consistently and without fail putting forth good intentions to support the community through the #guardiancares CSR project each year. With much appreciation and gratitude, thank you.
