Guardian Malaysia Gives Back To Community During Festive Season

Christmas is a gifting season! Guardian Malaysia was organised several charity programmes to bring some cheer to the unfortunate during this year-end festive season.

Jennifer Wong, Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs and Event, Guardian Health And Beauty Sdn Bhd said: “At Guardian, we always strive to give something back to the society we operate in. At the end of the year, during the festive and holiday season, when most people are with their families, some are not so fortunate not to do so. Hence we feel that it is a very appropriate time to do it.”

Recently Guardian Malaysia treated 55 children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary KL, a registered Home with the Welfare Department run with donations from the public. It is a foster Home for children from poor families, dysfunctional families, single parents and orphans.

The 55 children were given the opportunity to shop for whatever they want at the recently remodeled Guardian store at Berjaya Times Square and each received presents including tokidoki cuddly toys.

Karyll Chee, a Guardian’s Face of Healthy Beauty winner was present to spend time with the children at the Guardian store. She said she was so happy that Guardian, in this season of giving, had given the children the opportunity to shop for what they wanted and to experience the pleasure of shopping.

“Seeing their happy faces really makes me feeling so grateful and blessed with what I have,” she added.

In Kuching, Sarawak, Guardian had also worked with The Spring shopping mall Kuching and Bintulu to deliver more than RM9000 worth of daily necessities for Sarawak’s Children Cancer Society and Extrameal Bintulu. Guardian also visited some children from Sarawak’s Children Cancer Society who are being treated at Kuching’s General Hospital where they were given tokidoki plush toys to bring cheer to them.

Additionally, Guardian customers also personally contributed their own cheer to the needy by buying products at the Guardian store at The Spring Shopping Mall in Kuching and Bintulu and dropping them off at the cashier counters to be delivered to Hope Place Kuching, The Salvation Army and Extrameal Bintulu.

This campaign for The Spring Kuching ended on 18 December while for The Spring Bintulu, it will end on 20 December 2019. These products will be collected and distributed to these charity organisations at the end of December 2019.

Back-To-School Supplies Support For Orang Asli Children Via Brighter Future with TOP CSR Initiative !

TOP, the Putra Brand Award 2019 Platinum winner for the household product category[1], in collaboration with TESCO has launched a charity fundraising campaign to provide back-to-school necessities for children from three Orang Asli settlements in Pahang and Perak.

The brand believes that every child, should have the right to education and has been supporting children from charity homes from ages 7 to 17 years with back-to-school necessities via its ‘A Brighter Future with TOP’ or ‘Cerahi Kehidupan Bersama TOP’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for the past four years. More than 1,800 children from 76 Non-government organisations benefitted.

The campaign returns this year with a new focus on rural communities, easing the financial burden of Orang Asli families in Pos Tenau, Kuala Rompin and Sungai Lembing by providing new uniforms, shoes, socks, school bags, stationery sets. For the first time, school exercise books and workbooks will also be part of the contribution for each student.

The campaign will see 30 cents from the sales of selected TOP products from all TESCO outlets nationwide and through Tesco Online from 15 November to 15 December, 2019 channeled towards providing back-to-school necessities for Orang Asli children.

Mouse mommy plays role in supporting this TOP CSR effort. We can buy TOP products at TESCO nationwide for this CSR movement.

The Orang Asli make up just 0.7% of the Malaysian population, with some communities living below the poverty line[2]. According to the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013 – 2025, the transition of Orang Asli students from primary to secondary school was 73.1% compared to the national average of 87.19% in 2017, while the average attendance rate of Orang Asli students in primary schools is at 87.4% lower than the national average[3].

Through the Brighter Future with TOP CSR initiative the brand hopes to motivate children from these communities by equipping them with new back-to-school supplies so they want to go to school, thus improving their attendance, and academic performance.

Developed by Lion Corporation, Japan, TOP is known for championing the concept of hygienically clean living to encourage cleaner laundry, more comfort and a better sense of well-being through its continuous breakthrough innovation.

“The objective of the campaign is to encourage school attendance and participation by providing tangible support in the pursuit of education, through the provision of uniforms and school essentials while boosting self-esteem and self-image, educating them on importance of education in life and presenting a clean, neat and well-groomed appearance,” said Southern Lion Sdn Bhd, Marketing Manager (Fabric Care Division) Ms Ling Ai Li .
