AEON X KLOTH CARES | Continues To Promote Sustainable Practices In Our Daily Lifestyle

AEON CO. (M) BHD (AEON) continues its sustainability efforts by partnering with KLOTH CARES to provide recycle bins at selected AEON Mall and AEON BiG branches.

The recycling initiative which was launched at AEON Alpha Angle in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur is one of AEON's efforts in upholding its sustainability statement to protect the environment, biodiversity and ecosystems.

According to Azli Mohamed, Chief Ventures and Sustainability Officer of AEON, “AEON is committed to incorporating sustainable practices into product innovation and bringing positive impacts to communities. We remain committed to enhancing the sustainability practices that we have aligned with the overarching principles of People, Peace and Community,” “AEON is dedicated to meet the obligations of being a good corporate citizen.

We strive to foster greater engagement and collaboration with our communities as we seek to support our stakeholders in achieving their aspirations. In implementing this initiative today, we are grateful that we are able to work together with Kloth Cares and their founding partners, the Selangor Youth Community (SAY) and Life Line Clothing Malaysia (LLCM) in assisting us to adopt recycling bins to be located in our selected malls,” he added.

A total of 38 recycling bins will be adopted and placed at AEON Mall and AEON BiG branches around Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.

Kloth Cares, whose aim is to keep old clothes out of landfills, will collect and distribute items from the bins to be repurposed into wiping cloth, blankets, rugs, handbags, scarfs and other items, depending on the clothes’ condition.

Through this initiative, AEON targets a total of 380,000 kg of recycled fabric to be collected in a year.

The event which was held in conjunction with World Environment Day 2022 was graced by Ummi Kalthum Shuib, Director of Federal Territory (Wilayah Persekutuan), Solid Waste & Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) - Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya, and includes a special appearance by Kumika Kufaizul who presented a GoGreen pantun.

This initiative is in line with AEON’s efforts in championing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – 12 and 17 that focus on ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns, as well as strengthening the means of implementation and reviving global partnerships for sustainable development.

IUMW x Ascella Consulting | The 21st Country Trainer | Equipped Yourself With In-Depth Digital Knowledge Training

The International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW) and Ascella  Consulting Sdn Bhd are pleased to announce their collaboration to conduct a  comprehensive virtual three-day intensive training program that maximises online  classroom engagement, energy, and motivation.

This course arose from the need that educators and presenters felt when the pandemic  made us embrace the “New Normal”. We couldn't organise seminars and events in person  anymore, and we rapidly discovered that what worked in the real world didn't translate well in the virtual world.

Offered to all lecturers, educators, speakers, presenters, and trainers alike, the training  will provide comprehensive coaching on planning, designing, and conducting virtual  classrooms. Learners will be taught a variety of methods and introduced to a wide range  of tools to make their online lessons more engaging and improve students’ learning  experience. This includes setting up your virtual professional classroom or studio from the  comfort of your home.

“The advancement of technology has made the learning environment better than ever.  By knowing how to appropriately design your virtual lessons, teaching digitally shouldn’t  be a fuss,” says Muhammad Shawal, one of IUMW lecturers who went through the in depth training earlier this year.

Throughout the programme, using accelerated learning techniques, participants will learn  how to use technology planning, content modification, online engagement, and smooth  virtual transition conducted by the digital experts at IUMW and Ascella Consulting. IUMW  and Ascella Consulting intend to take the lead in enhancing the digital skills of the trainers  and educators of the 21st century.

The training for Virtual Learning Design and Delivery will be held for three days and  followed by three separate group sessions. Variety of dates and price packages are  available. For more information, please visit our website or contact us at  hello@ascella.biz

GuruPanda | SJKC Syllabus e-Learning Platform For Students

GuruPanda e-Learning platform caters for students. Online learning platform GuruPanda Sdn Bhd concluded its first round of crowdfunding with pitchIN on 15 November 2021, successfully attracting investments totalling RM500,000.

The monies are slated to fund the company’s expansion plans which will see a brand-new app, new user interfaces and attractive features to encourage more participation from its existing subscribers as well as attracting a wider base.

“We also eventually hope to incorporate AI and Big Data onto our platform. This is the future of e-Learning, and we want to ensure that we remain competitive and attractive as the industry grows, and offer our subscribers the latest learning applications,” says founder Kingsley Ting.

Launched in January 2021, GuruPanda is an e-Learning platform for children aged between 4 and 15 years old, with the various offerings in its stable based on the Malaysian education syllabus.

The platform’s learning programmes are presently divided into two - English and Bahasa Malaysia content for children between the ages of 4 - 7, and Mandarin content for the 10 - 15-year-old group, based on the SJKC syllabus for Science, Math, History and Mandarin Language. Programmes for the 8 - 9-year group will eventually be included. GuruPanda also provides music courses on their platform for young children.

“Our first initiative moving forward will be a new app that will enable subscribers to access the learning programmes on the go. This will be available for all three operating systems namely IOS, Android and Harmony,” says Ting.

With the launch of this app, projected for the first quarter of next year, GuruPanda is looking to triple is subscriber base, especially tapping into the Malay market to widen students’ access to affordable and quality e-Learning options. At subscriptions of between RM130 to RM220 annually, GuruPanda is the most affordable animated, cartoon-based learning platform in Malaysia.

“Our programmes are very digitally interactive and offer complete and high-quality content that suit each child’s learning level,” Ting adds.

True to its objective to make education fun, engaging, accessible and affordable for everyone, the planned new interfaces will increase the gamification and animation elements of the programmes.

“Currently, students take tests and quizzes and play games in the learning process, collecting badges as rewards. The new interface will be more interactive and we plan for students to be able to exchange these badges for physical prizes such as laptops and mobile phones as well as in-programme avatars and cartoon characters.”

GuruPanda is presently only available in Malaysia, with a subscriber base of some 6,000 users.  The company is poised to break into the regional market with a Mandarin language programme, taught in Thai, next year. Expansion plans into Indonesia and Vietnam are also in the pipeline.

“Our goal is to develop GuruPanda into a household name, both in Malaysia and SEA nations, that is synonymous with Fun, Accessible and Effective Learning,” Ting says.

Towards this end, the company is anticipating investments in its next crowdfunding initiative, seeking partners and investors who share the same mind-set of expanding e-Learning facilities.
