Unique | Exciting | Educational | Kidzathon - Heroes In The City In This 29 October 2017 !

The “Kidzathon - Heroes In The City” walkathon adventure organized by Urban Health Magazine and HANKidz Zone. Malaysia’s unique educational walkathon which combines exercise with education at Desa ParkCity, on the 29th of October 2017 (Sunday), from 7:00 am to 11:00 am. An exotic, exciting and fun parents and children walkathon that not to be missed! 

A brand new adventure trails awaits kids and parents this year when Urban Health and HANKidz Zone rejoin forces to bring on the 2nd Kidzathon that will take place along a 2km route with an estimated turnout of 2,000 participants. 


HANKidz Zone has designed an adventure where each child and parent team will visit several stations to collect special pin badges as a part of their mission to help Koby and his seven superhero friends. There will be three age categories for children – age 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.   

This year, the unique walkathon will see kids and parents embark on a new “Heroes In The City” adventure quest to help Koby, Kidzathon’s beloved mascot save the city from an evil villain with the help of his seven superhero friends. The theme “Heroes in the City” is aimed at imparting a significant message that each child has an inner hero in them. It is hoped that by succeeding a mission with their parents for the greater good of their “city”, this will add to their self-esteem and encourage them discover their self-worth and confidence. Yup! mouse mommy totally agree! We need to build up our children confidence by explore, experiment and gone through experience together-gather!

She was happy to see parents and children enjoying their bonding time and learning about the world through fun activities during the walk. This year "Heroes in the City" will definitely bring more insights, fun and laugh for the family members!

“This year, we chose the theme "Heroes In The City" with the objective of encouraging children to be brave and have enough faith to take on responsibilities. Through the walk, children can learn the importance of teamwork, commitment, courage and faith while parents will be assistants to their children in completing the 2km walk,” said Wong. 

The aim of this walkathon is to promote and increase health awareness among Malaysians while strengthening the bond between parent and child through participation in a fun outdoor activity. There will also be a free health check, stage performances, sponsors’ booths, food stalls and games booths with amazing prizes! Cool, mouse mommy and kids will definitely love it!

Coach Hanky, CEO and founder of HANKidz Zone Sdn Bhd adds, “There is a super hero in every one of us. This is very true for children as it represents their inner belief and confidence. Therefore, this year we will be unleashing the super hero in them while having fun in this amazing adventure.”

There will be Early Bird tickets for sale at RM95 for the first 100 1-adult and 1-child teams. Thereafter, admission tickets will cost RM105 for each 1-adult and 1-child team. There is also a special FamilyPackage of RM130 for 2 adults and 1 child. Each parent and child is entitled to receive a running T-shirt and finishing medal.

“I am sure parents will enjoy seeing their children being physically active and committed to completing the walk in order to finish their mission. I can’t wait to see thousands of heroes come together to save their city!” said Wong.

Sempoi Charity Fun Walk @ KL Bird Park I Fun I Charity I Bonding I Community

The fun walk will be held on the 13th May 2017, Saturday @ KL Bird Park. This is organised by Sempoi Charity in collaboration with the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park as co-organizer & venue sponsor and #AboutKL to raise funds for charity. The General Manager of Kuala Lumpur Tourism Bureau, Encik Khairul Anuar Bin Md. Juri was present at the announcement to lend his support towards the event.

This is a fun and knowledgeable fun walk that children can have quality bonding time spend with parents and expose to learning opportunity to get to know different type of birds species. Of course! This Sempoi Charity Fun Walk also expose the children to the role play in the community as giving back to the community such as joining charity programme and so on.
Sempoi Charity Fun Walk @ KL Bird Park is a first of its kind public fundraising event. The walk aims to bring together 2000 participants to the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park in a bid to raise funds for charity whilst creating awareness on the importance of preserving nature, its diverse flora and fauna especially birds and promote a healthy, active and fulfilling lifestyle for city dwellers through a fun walk. According to President of Sempoi Charity, Mr Mike Manicka, the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is an apt venue for the fun walk as it houses a wide species of birds native to Malaysia in a lush natural setting right in the heart of the city.

In addition, the fun walk also serves as a ready platform for corporate companies to make corporate contributions as part of their CSR initiative. Companies can help raise funds by taking up various sponsorship opportunities available including sponsorship of participation for children from homes and orphanages. In his speech, Mr Mike Manicka, President of Sempoi Charity urged corporate companies and individuals to come forward and support the fun walk to hand in hand raise funds and make a difference for the betterment of the community as a whole.
The objective of the fun walk is predominantly to raise funds for charity. Sempoi Charity hopes to raise enough funds to support three (3) of its new initiatives this year. Funds raised through the fun walk will be channelled to JKOASM (Jaringan Kampung Orang Asli Malaysia) for their educational outreach programmes. JKOASM is a NGO made out entirely of volunteers working with the Orang Asli community.

Some of their educational outreach programmes includes women’s empowerment workshops, youth leadership workshops and basic computer skills training to help the Orang Asli community to obtain basic skills, knowledge and confidence to be self-sufficient. Funds will also be used to support Sempoi Sahur – a street feeding programme to feed the homeless and destitute living on the streets of Kuala Lumpur during the month of Ramadhan and SC Cares for Kids through a graffiti mural art project at various schools for disabled children. Sempoi Charity aims to raise RM15,000 to benefit JKOASM, feed and provide toiletry kits for 500 homeless individuals and paint 3 graffiti murals at schools for disabled children. 
Sempoi Charity also announced its partner and sponsors who have pledged their support for the fun walk thus far which includes the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park as venue sponsor, #AboutKL as event partner, WABS as sponsorship partner, CIME as creative agency, Gaya Travel as magazine partner, KPJ as medical partner and Ice Mountain & 100 Plus as official drink partner. Other supporting partners for the event are Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), Kuala Lumpur Tourism Bureau (KLTB), TwentyFirst Century Sport and TL Impressions who have made contributions in both cash and kind.

Sempoi Charity Fun Walk@KL Bird Park is divided into two (2) categories - Adult for individuals aged 18 years old & above and Family, comprising of 1 Adult and 1 child aged between 5 to 17 years old. Registration fee for the Adult category is at RM80 and Family category is at RM150. Finishers will receive a medal and goody bag.
