Fun-Filled Watsons #GETACTIVE Fest 2018 For Family And Kids!



Mouse mommy and friends were joining this exciting Watsons #GETACTIVE Fest with over 10,000 of fitness enthusiasts across the country and people of all ages gathered at the Watsons first Get Active Festival 2018 held in Setia City Convention Centre.



Boasted with many successes of Watsons’ yearly grand fitness event, this year’s happening returned with an extension of all-day festival of fitness, fun activities as well as beauty and health workshops.


Organised by Asia and Malaysia’s No. 1 health and beauty retailer, the fitness and health festival started in the wee hours of the morning at 6.00 am and ended at 11.00 pm with the ever popular Move Your Body Zumba.




“Leading the fifth year of Move Your Body Zumba event is a huge recognition of success for Watsons as the public look forward to our largest fitness gathering every year. Hence, we wanted to offer an even more rewarding experience to everyone by taking up a notch to organise a round-the-clock activities celebrating fitness and health with people of all ages.” said Caryn Loh, Managing Director of Watsons Malaysia.


Recognising the importance of practicing from young, the festival aims to reach out to families with children as well as young ones by introducing more kids’ friendly outdoor activities.




“Besides making fitness fun for families, we wanted to emphasise the importance of education and practice of a healthy lifestyle to the younger generation too,” Caryn further remarks.




The participants of Get Active Fest are treated to the wee hours of Yoga in the Park session with well-known celebrity yoga master, Atilia Haron.


Throughout this Yoga session, mouse mommy has learnt some Yoga poses to get rid of joint pain especially the pelvis and hip region. This is the few poses would be greatly helpful for mommies! Mommies can practice at home too.  




Throughout the day, the event highlights included hot air balloon rides, wall climbing activities, a giant inflatable fitness playground, health, beauty and lifestyle workshops and cooking demos by experts, food trucks offering healthy eats and treats keeping the attendees fuelled throughout the day and upbeat activities bazaar before ending with the iconic Move Your Body Zumba with the country’s top Zumba professionals.



Mouse mommy spotted Onzen Axta Egg and it taste smooth, yummy and healthy choice. MR and baby MH also love to eat half boiled eggs so much.




Besides that, mouse mommy also takes the bicycle ride to DIY my own fresh watermelon juice! Pay some effort to blend the fruit juice via kinetic energy.


Berocca Multivitamin drink booth also is just nice to refill our body’s minerals requirement.  


The crowd were also treated with local entertainment and artistes’ appearances by Elite, Arja Lee, Ribbon Ooi and Pink Tan as well as Gary Chee.


The #GETACTIVE Fest’s objective is to promote an active lifestyle to all Malaysians through physical exercises in a fun yet simple way.



The festival is part of the Watsons’ #GETACTIVE campaign, a health initiative to further advocate healthy living and thus, positioning Watsons as the ideal healthy and beauty shopping destination, giving its customers an elevated shopping experience with a variety of brands and products.

Stay Active With First-Ever Laman Cergas AIA Vitality At Taman Metropolitan Kepong By AIA Malaysia!



Mouse mommy and family have a morning exercise at the Taman Metropolitan Kepong. With the goal of making healthy living more accessible, AIA Bhd. (AIA) in partnership with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) today launched the first-ever Laman Cergas AIA Vitality – a specially-designed outdoor gym at the popular Taman Metropolitan Kepong, with the purpose of encouraging Malaysians to be more active and overcome a sedentary lifestyle.


Healthy lifestyle must be encouraged in our community. Youngster and kids nowadays tend to tag along with their information technology gadget. MR also plays and learns via his Ipad. However, mouse mommy does always emphasis on balancing and healthy lifestyle in study, nutrition, leisure and exercise.  



As in a strong body and healthy mindset allow us to explore our daily life positively. Mouse mommy was glad to take part in the launch of The Laman Cergas by AIA Vitality that beneficial to the community. 




We are enjoying the Zumba dance and sweat out in the morning! Detox and tension release too via workout!


MR and MH also enjoy their play time around the garden and children outdoor playground. A great family bonding moments activities during weekend.



In a recent study, it was found that Malaysia was one of the least physically active countries in the world, with over 60% of adults contented to be desk-bound with little or no intention to exercise. 54% of Malaysians also divulged that committing to an exercise regime required too much effort, while 78% cited that it took a lot of time[1].

These factors accumulate as the National Health and Morbidity Survey[2] also states that over the past 30 years, the rates of physical activity amongst Malaysians have dwindled, with the numbers for Type 2 diabetes rising by four-fold and obesity by 280%.


Chief Executive Officer of AIA Bhd., Anusha Thavarajah said: “Over the past decade, we have seen the alarming rise of diabetes and obesity rates in the country, which has spurred our mission to advocate a healthier lifestyle for all Malaysians. Our big idea with the launch of Laman Cergas AIA Vitality today is to encourage Malaysians to commit to a heathy living through physical activities, starting with the community within Taman Metropolitan Kepong. In the long run, we hope to inspire more Malaysians to get up, move about, and get healthy.”


According to the AIA Healthy Living Index 2018, Malaysians’ overall satisfaction on health has increased from 79% in 2016, to 82% in 2018. This increase is a genuine sign that Malaysians are keen to make a difference, and are becoming increasingly health conscious, as the AIA Healthy Living Index also shows that they are spending a minimum of 3.5 hours a week to exercise, as opposed to 2.6 hours two years ago.


The survey also discovered that more than half of the Malaysian respondents stopped exercising because they felt it required too much effort. 78% of Malaysians shared that finding time to exercise was one of the biggest barriers in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
           

The motivation for Laman Cergas AIA Vitality was borne with the intention to make wellness more accessible to Malaysians and be the solution to barriers such as time and availability. AIA has worked together with Fitness First to select exercise machines to form a circuit training course that works out the entire body and is specially designed for all levels of fitness, thus making it suitable for the general public. Each machine comes with a QR code, which directly links the user with a video on how to properly use it.

Taman Metropolitan Kepong is 95-hectares large and frequented by individuals from all walks of life including fitness enthusiasts, families and even avid bicyclists. The addition of Laman Cergas AIA Vitality to the park means that patrons now have an extra outlet to engage in exercises that work out the entire body.

Superb Splashing Fun Time At Sunway Lagoon Aqua Run 2!


Mouse mommy and buddies were so exciting to join this Sunway Lagoon Aqua Run 2 A tidal wave took over Sunway Lagoon as it brought more than 800 runners to the second installment of AQUA RUN– a water themed ‘fun run’ featuring 12 fun zones spanning approximately 3.5km.


We start with cool Zumba Dance! Everyone was spotting and dance it out at the surf beach, Sunway Lagoon!



There you go, WE ARE READY TO KICK START THE AQUA RUN! 



Ops! This is the First Obstacle that we got to go through! Totally wet...


The fun run is aimed at getting the community outdoors and spend time together with family and friends, in line with Sunway Lagoon’s objective as a one-stop fun destination for guests to have the ‘Best Day Ever’.


To kick off the morning, we got to climbed the Avalanche Peak and were drenched by splashes of water at the Splash Attack that got them ready for what’s to come! Mouse mommy has been attacked till cannot move! Ops! It does not stop here, mouse mommy was revenges back by splashing water to the pool attendants. Haha!  


Mouse mommy and friends had to navigate through the specially-designed fun zones with its unique spills and surprises at the Puddles Mattress, Daredevil Splash Mountains, Kiddie Pool Arena, Rain Shower, Wet Blocks, Zambezi River Adventure, Water Boogie Disco and Commando Flood Tunnel





Besides that, the Photo-Op Challenge tested participants’ ability to take their best shots amidst splashing water.


Many photos that we snapped till our mobile phone "full house"!  


It was a splendid day filled with thrills and excitement as runners got to roam through the theme park to see its iconic attractions such as Malaysia’s Largest Man-Made Surf Beach, Asia’s 1st Nickelodeon-themed land, Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, among others. 



Runners enjoyed themselves at the Music Party finale before spending the rest of the day at the park.



“With over 90 rides across 80 acres of space, Sunway Lagoon continues to offer a wonderful place for family and friends to get together and have fun.  From the success and overwhelming response of last year’s inaugural Aqua Run, we have decided to have this year’s edition on a larger scale and greater than before! We uphold our promise to continuously provide new experiences for each guest that comes to our park,” commented Sean Choo, General Manager of Sunway Lagoon.


Mobile phones were tucked away safely with Sunway Lagoon’s waterproof pouch which was provided to all guests to snap photos as memories with the #SunwayLagoonMY and #SLAquaRun2 hashtags.
