FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world's largest express transportation companies, celebrated its anniversary by lighting up the Kuala Lumpur Tower, one of the tallest structures in Southeast Asia, in shades of the official FedEx colors purple and orange on April 17.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of FedEx worldwide and the 30th anniversary of FedEx in Malaysia. To celebrate this significant milestone, the company had the Kuala Lumpur Tower lit up to express its commitment to its customers and its gratitude for being welcomed as a member of the community for decades.
FedEx began its operations on April 17, 1973, in Memphis, Tennessee, with 389 team members and 14 aircrafts. On that first night, the company delivered 186 packages to 25 cities across the United States. Now, the company employs nearly 530,000 employees worldwide and ships 16.5 million packages daily across the globe.
At this important milestone, FedEx is committed to stay ahead of the supply chain curve by focusing on best-in-class innovations that will pave the way for the future.
FedEx team members across Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) including Malaysia came together with those across the globe to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary through 50 Days of Caring. Team members supported the communities they serve every day by volunteering their time and donating items to agencies in need.
Whether it was through refurbishing schools and hospitals or cleaning up parks and beaches, giving back is part of the company’s culture. FedEx also recently announced it exceeded its FedEx Cares 50 by 50 goal of helping 50 million people by its 50th birthday.
MOG Little Optometrist for kids this school holidays!
MOG Group of Companies (MOG), one of Malaysia's leading and most reputable eye care providers, is continuing its efforts to develop innovative technologies and concepts for the future of eye care with their latest community initiative, Little Optometrist.
After the
successful launch of the 6-in-1 Vision
Experience in 2022, MOG is advancing its vision to help the world see
better by educating and fostering the next generation through a comprehensive
eye care programme, Little Optometrist.
The objective
of this initiative is to educate children and their parents or guardians through
a fun and engaging activity to raise better awareness on eye health related
issues especially myopia and other common vision problems prevalent among
children. Under this project, MOG is providing children a hands-on opportunity
to test and diagnose eye conditions through a set of simplified high street
optometry practices in a controlled and conducive environment under supervision
of certified optometrist.
In addition
to introducing children to the field of optometry, parents will also be taught
on how to recognise symptoms that can adversely impact their children’s vision
development and overall well-being.
Children
Myopia Control has been and will continue to be one of the most important
services that MOG provide throughout their stores in Peninsular Malaysia. Through
the enhancement of MOG’s 6-in-1 Vision Experience and the addition of ‘Little
Optometrist’, MOG can now better provide personalised and precise children
vision care consultation and myopia management solutions to effectively channel
information regarding the long-term and short-term effects of myopia as well as
methods to avoid further harm to their eye health.
“Myopia is an
eye health concern which every parent should be aware of. With more than
one-third of the world's population diagnosed with myopia, we seek to assist
Malaysians in better recognising the condition particularly in children. As
such, parents will need to be alert for the overall health of their children
which also encompasses their eye health, as higher levels of myopia are
associated with an increased risk of developing eye problems once children
reach adulthood,” elaborated Dato Frankie Ng, Chairman and Founder of Metro
Optical Group (MOG).
The
vision-themed experiential activities are designed to provide children with the
opportunity to experience the life of a real optometrist through an inspiring,
fun-filled journey in order to effectively drive eye health awareness from a
young age, thereby enhancing the future of vision care.
With support
from organisations such as the Malaysian Optical Council (MOC), Sun Time Vision
Specialist and other eye specialists’ hospital, MOG hopes
that this initiative will be able to help realise their goal of providing
Malaysians with the finest and most personalised eye care solutions from young.
“At MOG, our
goal is to give all members of the community, regardless of their age, the very
best eye care possible. We have high hopes that through continuous enhancement
of our 6-in-1 Vision Experience and our newly-established, first-of-its-kind
initiative, Little Optometrist, we will be able to give children a head-start
on what they need to know to keep their eyes healthy and drive interest towards
the optometry career to pass on the legacy of vision care to our future
generations,” said Dato Frankie.
The Little
Optometrist Experience is a time-limited experience that will run during MOG
6-in-1 Vision Experiential Showcase in Sunway Pyramid Mall from 7 - 12 March
2023, 10.00 am to 10.00 pm.
Parents are
invited to bring along their children to participate in the Little Optometrist
Experience during the session and also go through a personalised eye care
consultation through MOG’s finely-curated 6-in-1 Vision Experience.
Mouse mommy
and kids MR MH were having a fun-filled Little Optometrist Experience with MOG.
Happy that MR and MH get to touch, learn and know the eye’s anatomy – iris,
lens, eye ball gel, cornea, optic nerve, retina.
Besides that, MR and MH also
became a little Optometrist to test friend’s eyesight’s via physical and
machine test.
The kids learn how to take good care of their eyes.
The kids will be awarded with certificate and goodies bag after the experience activities. MOG Little Optometrist is successfully qualified and certified.
Parents and kids are invited to participate
in the Little Optometrist Experience activities and learn about eyes anatomy,
physiology, eye care and many more. A great school holiday activities for family
with kids.
Adults also can go through a personalised eye
