A longstanding favourite of Malaysians for over
four decades, VITAGEN is a household name synonymous with digestive care. In
celebration of their 40th anniversary in championing good gut
health, Malaysia’s No. 1 Cultured Milk drink launched a nationwide roadshow, VITAGEN A-Maze-ing Challenge 2017, which
kicked off at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya recently. This initiative aims to promote
the importance of a healthy gut and the role it plays in boosting our immunity,
mood and mental clarity.
The five-day roadshow saw approximately 10,000 members
of the public from all walks of life ‘edutained’ by a series of educational and
interactive activities. The highlight of the event was the maze, constructed in
the shape of a VITAGEN bottle. The maze illustrated how we can all learn to
navigate our way to better gut health with VITAGEN. Participants who
successfully completed the maze journey were rewarded with a free bottle of
VITAGEN dispensed by an interactive vending machine.
The VITAGEN A-Maze-ing Challenge 2017 roadshow also
featured three games, ‘Know Your Gut’, ‘Stomp Away Bad Bacteria’ and ‘Spot the
Hidden VITAGEN bottles’ which focused on promoting the three key benefits of a
healthy gut – better immunity, sharper mental clarity and a more balanced mood,
respectively. Several members of the public also won gifts and prizes when they
participated in the fun and games.
“It was an eye-opener for my family and I when we
discovered the connection between our gut and how it impacts our overall
wellbeing,” said one of the participants.
“Knowledge is power. And we believe gut health
education is essential for all. In light of VITAGEN’s 40th
anniversary, we are determined to stress on the importance of a healthy gut and
the role it plays in both our physical and emotional health,” stated Poh Eng Lip, VITAGEN’s General Manager.
70% of our immune system lies within the gut. Our
immune system is designed to fight invading viruses, bacteria and other microbes
while leaving healthy tissue alone. VITAGEN is made from fermented skimmed milk
with billions of live and active cultures. These cultures are formulated to
survive the journey through the gastrointestinal tract and gut to help preserve
the balance of good and bad bacteria for better digestion and a stronger immune
system. In short, the healthier the gut, the better chance we have of boosting
our immunity to fight off diseases.
There is an internal complex ecosystem of bacteria
located within our bodies that we call the microbiome. These microbiomes
regulate how we feel and think by communicating signals via the vagus nerve,
which connects the brain and the digestive tract. Numerous on-going studies
have shown that microfauna in our intestines plays a major role in affecting
our state of mind. VITAGEN helps to keep the bacterial ecosystem in our gut
balanced, effectively assisting in promoting better mental clarity.
Our gut does more than just digest food. It also
plays an important role in both our physical and emotional health. Housing
nearly 95% of serotonin – the chemical that triggers our ‘feel-good’ feelings,
our gut affects our mood. If there is a lack of good bacteria in our gut, it
will lessen the neurotransmitter communication with the brain, directly
affecting our emotions.
VITAGEN has been increasing its efforts to promote
good gut health to Malaysians through various initiatives and campaigns to
further enforce the positive correlation between good gut health and the three
key areas of immunity, mental clarity and mood. Packed with billions of live,
active cultures of Lactobacillus acidophilus
and Lactobacillus casei, VITAGEN is known to aid in better digestion and a
stronger immune system.
