There is something for everyone in Malaysia.

“And we would like all Malaysians to know that wherever you go in Malaysia, Guardian has your back, in terms of all your health and beauty essentials you require for your holidays.

We are very pleased to be working with Guardian who have all the health and beauty products for every kind of travel such as, for example, beach holidays, family holidays, highland holidays, and foodie holidays.”

Seek out the wonderful food and cuisine and perhaps at the same time, help the local economy. The more people travel in the country, the more they will spend and help the locals,” Anna said.

In conjunction with the “Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Bersama Guardian” campaign, Guardian will also hold a national contest where Guardian customers who spend RM20 and above in a single receipt will stand a chance to win up to RM200,000 worth of travel, health and beauty prizes comprising a top prize of a Brompton Bike C-Line, the Classic Steel Folding Bike, domestic travel vouchers worth RM12000, 2Day1Night Sunway Camp Out and Sunway Lagoon passes, Samsonite luggage and other exciting prizes.  Please click on https://campaign2023.guardian.com.my/ to find out more and to join the contest.

GUARDIAN THE FACE OF HEALTHY BEAUTY | SOUTHERN REGION WINNERS ADVANCE TO GRAND FINALS

Four winners from Guardian’s popular nationwide contest ‘The Face of Healthy Beauty’ 2023 (TFHB 2023) Johor leg are one step closer to becoming the next Guardian Healthy Beauty Ambassadors as they move on to the Grand Finals.

The winners were,

1. Ayshah Abdul Rahman, 31, a business owner and model.

2. Candace Cheah, 27, an undergraduate veterinary student.

3.  Joan Na, 26, a wealth advisor.

4.  Lim Wen Hui, 22, an undergraduate TESL student.

The deserving four were selected among 19 semi-finalists after a rigorous two-day audition at Paradigm Mall in Johor Bahru which attracted individuals between ages 18 to 55 from Johor as well as Kuala Lumpur.

Final year veterinary student Candace Cheah was overjoyed when she was selected as one of the four finalists to compete in the Grand Finals.

“I am so excited and looking forward to the Grand Finals now. The contest became tougher as we drew to a close and I knew it was a tough call for the judges as every contestant had their own distinct qualities.

“There were so many beautiful and unique women from different ages and backgrounds, and I am honoured to have the judges select me to be one of the finalists.,” she said.

Candace who travelled from Kuala Lumpur alone to compete in the selection process was a repeat contestant after her first attempt in 2019 during the first edition of TFHB.

The four winners from the Southern region will join 12 other finalists selected at the Northern and Central regions to compete in the Grand Finals which will be held at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall in Petaling Jaya on 21 October 2023.

Guardian’s second edition of TFHB sets itself apart by steering away from traditional beauty standards to a broader, inclusive definition. It is NOT a beauty contest as the campaign celebrates healthy beauty by encouraging everyone to embrace their unique qualities both inside and out.

The Healthy Beauty individual is a person who is happy, loving, fun, positive and dynamic as well as gentle and passionate, with a confidence built from feeling good about themselves holistically.

Through their lifestyle and attitude, they also inspire others to do things that make them feel happy and fulfilling, which leads to a healthy and beautiful life.

This comprehensive approach to wellness does not just consider natural beauty, but also mental, emotional, and social well-being as it shifts the focus from superficial standards of beauty to a more sustainable, wholesome, and inclusive definition.

Touted as the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia, the search for ‘The Face of Healthy Beauty’ is a nationwide quest to find FOUR individuals, who best fit the bill as ‘The Face of Healthy Beauty’ to be Guardian’s healthy beauty ambassadors.

The four (4) winners from the Grand Final will each receive:

• One (1) year contract with Guardian.

• Feature on Guardian’s catalogue cover page and other sales material.

• RM10,000 cash and RM10,000 worth of vouchers.

• Products from participating sponsors.

• RM5,000 worth of Guardian bath care products to a charity organisation of the winner’s choice.

The TFHB 2023 contest will now move to Vivacity Mall, Kuching Sarawak (16-17 September 2023) for its last leg to select another four finalists for the Grand Finals.

Guardian customers can play a role in the selection process by vote, from 18 September – 8 October 2023 on the microsite (https://theface.guardian.com.my), for their favourite finalist to win at the Grand Finals.  The votes received for each finalist will contribute towards 40% of the total scores at the Grand Finals.

SPX Celebrates Record Women Empowerment In E-Commerce Courier

SPX, the delivery provider of SEA group with 118 hubs nationwide, celebrates two years of promoting women and closing the gender divide in a traditionally male dominated courier industry. SPX has been building robust relationships with local communities, as their work enables them to expand local sellers’ reach, create local economies, and fulfil essential orders during rainy seasons.

Since 2021, SPX has outpaced competitors by promoting inclusive initiatives at the workplace, hiring 40 times more women, in all kinds of management roles such as supervisors, hub leads, shift leads, and operational roles such as sorters, couriers, and riders. Today, a record 13% couriers and 40% sorters nationwide are women; SPX is the only e-commerce courier partner in Malaysia helmed by a female director, Cheah Lee Sun.

‘I welcome female couriers all over Malaysia, because I don’t see this industry as a male-dominated industry. No job is too heavy duty for women here whether it involves heavy lifting or driving commercial vehicles. Everyone is welcome, in the spirit of inclusion and supporting upskilling local talents in the communities where we operate,’ says Lee Sun, Head of SPX.

Company-Wide Visible Policy for Transparent Workplace

Lee Sun acknowledges that getting extra logistics capacity during peak ecommerce campaign periods can be very competitive. She makes personal visits to SPX hubs, sorting facilities, and warehouses, and rides along with her drivers, men and women equally, to ensure equal treatment of her employees and instant feedback systems to facilitate better performance. SPX has implemented a company-wide Visible Policy initiative, which means there are active channels for all employees to report any integrity or harassment issues anonymously.

Siti Sakinah Yusof, 33, started as a contract supervisor in the Kuala Terengganu Selatan hub and due to her unwavering integrity and work ethic, she has been promoted to a full-time hire with SPX; as a mother of three children, she is a role model in cultivating a trustworthy, positive workplace environment. ‘Women must know how to take care of themselves and never hesitate to speak up about those with unethical behaviour,’ she said.

Job Flexibility Drives Better Performance

Nadiah Mohd Shukor, 34, looks out for working mothers under her supervision as a trainee in the Acting Area Manager Programme for Hulu Langat, Balakong, Serdang, and Titiwangsa. “I make sure they apply for leave when their child is sick, take lunch breaks and have proper meals while at work even during peak delivery periods,” she said. Being a mother herself to seven children, Nadiah understands that some of the women are doing two jobs and need the flexibility to work on shifts.

Lee Sun endorses this mentality, empowering all women with the flexibility to manage their own delivery schedules while building their own careers. While working as SPX couriers means they can drop their children off at schools while managing to deliver parcels by the end of their shift.

Delivering With More Empathy

As a result of such inclusive hiring policies, there has been an overwhelming culture of inclusion, discipline, and community-building at SPX. ‘There is just an attention to detail in handling parcels and an ability to remember our frequent buyers, that has been infused by women in all our territories. From my ride-alongs, I observe that they are more patient, more polite, and just care a lot more about people,’ mused Lee Sun.

Ruzita Puzi, 45, has worked for 20 years in this industry, and is now in a position to bring more job opportunities to women in Kedah at her Alor Setar Hub: ‘I want women from all walks of life to believe in themselves because they can succeed in anything, whether it's in business or holding leadership roles within companies. Before this, there were no women employees in the hub. We hired two women to work as sorters and hope to hire more women to break the gender barrier.’

Meanwhile, in conjunction with Malaysia Day, SPX couriers nationwide galvanized teamwork to deliver 15,000 free ‘Unveiling Malaysian Gems’ books to regular customers, waving the national flag and taking photos. The books contain guides to women-owned businesses across all states who support women in their communities by hiring and including them in their businesses.
