For most people, making a payment is no
longer simply about reaching for a card. Increasingly, it begins with the
device already in their hands.
MBSB Bank Berhad today launched its Visa
Debit Card-i on Samsung Wallet and Google Pay, giving customers a simpler and
more secure way to make contactless payments using eligible Android devices.
Customers can now leave their wallets
behind and pay with confidence. By adding MBSB Bank Visa Debit Card-i to
Samsung Wallet and Google Pay, you can enjoy a seamless, secure and contactless
payment experience at participating visa merchants locally and overseas.
Payments are verified using the
authentication features available on the customer’s device. Tokenization adds
another layer of security by replacing the customer’s actual card details with
a unique digital identifier during each transaction. The launch reflects a
broader change in how Malaysians manage their everyday spending.
Electronic payment transactions in
Malaysia reached 18.4 billion in 2025, an increase of 25% from the previous
year, with an average of 538 cashless payments made per person. Usman Ghouse,
Group Chief Consumer Banking Officer of MBSB Bank, said: Retail payment
behaviours are evolving rapidly, making it essential for banks to offer customers
multiple payment options. Customers want payment options that are simple, secure
and already part of the devices they use every day. By bringing the MBSB Bank Visa
Debit Card-i to Samsung Pay and Google Pay, we are making that experience available
to more of our customers, wherever their day takes them.”

The launch builds on MBSB Bank’s expanding
range of digital consumer banking services. These include GET – Global Easy
Transfer, powered by Wise, which enables customers to send money overseas with
competitive foreign exchange rates, transparent pricing and real-time transfer
tracking. It also includes PrimeGold-i, a digital gold investment solution backed
by physical gold, allowing customers to start investing as little as RM 10.
Both services are available through M
Journey, enabling customers to manage payments, international transfers and
investments across MBSB Bank’s digital channels. MBSB Bank will further expand
its digital payment capabilities with the introduction of Apple Pay in the
coming months, giving customers more ways to make secure and convenientcontactless
payments.
Matthew Ng, Head of Mobile eXperience
Business, Samsung Malaysia Electronics said: "At Samsung, we believe
technology should be intuitive, making everyday life simpler and more
convenient. Samsung Wallet reflects that vision by evolving beyond a digital
wallet into an intelligent everyday companion. Together with MBSB Bank, we are
enabling more customers to enjoy fast, seamless and secure payments with the
Galaxy devices they already know and trust."
To encourage customers to experience
Samsung Wallet, MBSB Bank is running Tap Smart. Win Big. campaign from 18 June
to 31 August 2026. Customers who add their MBSB Bank Visa Debit Card-i to
Samsung Wallet and complete their first eligible tap will receive an RM5 ZUS
