Carousell Marks Success Of #MYLOCALWIRA Campaign Via Family Day Together With Parents Without Partners

Carousell, one of the world’s largest and fastest growing mobile classified marketplaces, celebrated the success of its #MYLocalWira pro-social campaign with a Family Day party held in conjunction with Malaysia Day.

A total of RM8, 000 was raised for the campaign’s beneficiary, Parents Without Partners (PWP), a charitable organisation established to help single parents in need, through the sales of preloved items on Carousell donated by notable Malaysian personalities. They were squash legend Datuk Nicol David, Malaysia’s first female ONE Championship mixed martial arts (MMA) athlete and Global Citizen Ambassador Ann Osman, international model and renowned fashion and beauty entrepreneur Amber Chia, professional motorsport athlete and Malaysia's "Drift Queen” Leona Chin, world-class diver Leong Mun Yee, national gymnast Farah Ann and three times national Olympic track cyclist Josiah Ng. The latest to team up with Carousell was Malaysia’s badminton hero, Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei, who offered his personal badminton racket that came with an autographed sleeve to the campaign.

Carousell believes in the importance of giving back, and we strive to be an active participant in building a supportive community not just among Carousell members but among all Malaysians. Ours is a platform that cares, and we hope this Family Day celebration brings families and communities closer together,” said Mr Tang Siew Wai, Country Head, Carousell Malaysia.

The party was a fun-filled experience for PWP members and their children, with lightsaber training led by the Star Wars Malaysia Fan Club, a magic show and balloon sculptures by Uncle Charlie, the clown, and activities like a storytelling session by the KL Book Appreciation Club and sand art, with ice-cold treats from Inside Scoop.  Present in support of this event were #MYLocalWira advocates Farah Ann and Josiah Ng.

“We are very appreciative of the support we have received from Carousell – it’s a really good online marketplace for Malaysians to sell and buy at reasonable prices, which is very helpful for those who are on a budget. We also thank all the people who bid on the items,” said Mr Adrian Ong, Director and Operations Manager, Parents Without Partners.

The daily demands of raising a family are tough, especially for single parents and these funds will go a long way towards daily necessities such as rent, groceries and school supplies for the children.”

PWP raises funds primarily through the sale of preloved items at their thrift store, Jumble Station. Today, Malaysians can also contribute to this charitable organisation by purchasing the items on Carousell (pwpofficial).

It’s recess time! The bell rings and school children are thronging to the school canteen to grab a bite. While it is important for kids to eat something to provide them the energy they require to continue with the rest of the school day, it is equally important for them to be well-nourished.

For parents, the best way to ensure that your children are chomping on wholesome treats instead of junk food at recess is to of course provide them with homemade snack packs.

Usually, the time it takes to put together something nutritious and yummy is what forces parents to opt for easier and often unhealthy alternatives.

Smucker’s, a world-renowned American jam and preserve brand is here to suggest four easy-peasy yet nutritious snacks featuring its Smucker’s Sugar Free range that parents will be able to put together for their children in no time.

Mohan Alagappar, General Manager of GBA Corporation, said, “We understand that while parent’s lead busy lives, they are also concerned about ensuring that their children get the nutrition they need on a daily basis. With the Smucker’s Sugar Free range, parents can prepare a healthy and delicious treat while gaining more time to spend with their little ones. Most importantly, consumers can trust the quality of Smucker’s products which has years of excellence behind it.”

A favoured choice amongst Malaysians, The J.M Smucker’s Company has been committed to offering consumers quality products and help millions of families create memorable snack time moments for over 120 years now.

The Smucker’s Sugar Free range comes in 3 delectable variants of Strawberry Preserves, Orange Marmalade and Concord Grape Jam. Ms Wong Vai Chi, Head of Marketing and Promotions, Guardian Malaysia, speaking at the launch, said: “We are extremely proud and excited to tell you that this year’s Most Voted Brands will feature 313 products from the extensive brand offerings found in our stores!”

Millions of Guardian Malaysia customers, will get this opportunity to vote, once again, for their favourite health and beauty brands, and stand to win prizes worth up to RM40,000.

“In fact, 313 products and 139 brands will be vying for 73 category awards this year, which will make this year’s awards as hard won as ever. And because the votes are from our customers, those who actually buy and use these products, it gives brand owners an unbiased evaluation of where their brand stands.

“The votes taken as a whole, will give an unbiased snapshot of brands that have reached and impacted our customers the most,” she added.

Giving the background to the Awards, Ms Wong said: “When Guardian Malaysia conceptualised the award in the year 2000, our objective was to connect our millions of shoppers to all our business partners and brand owners, by having them vote their favourite brand. Today, this award is even more relevant as we are driven to connect with and understand our customer lifestyle needs, preferences and behaviour that is constantly changing and evolving.”

“I believe Guardian Malaysia’s Most Voted Brands are among the most definitive and prestigious in the market, taking into consideration the depth and breadth of the products, brands and categories involved,” she added.

Reflecting the digital lifestyle of a majority of today’s consumers, the voting process will continue to be conducted entirely in digital format. This means, all voting will be done online.

However, as an added bonus for this year, Guardian customers can also enter the MVB Hunt in all Guardian stores using their mobile phones. The Guardian MVB Hunt is a treasure hunt conducted in all Guardian stores and customers can win product vouchers for more savings.

Customers can start treasure hunting by scanning the QR code at Guardian stores or by entering mvb19.guardian.com.my into their browser. After voting, they will get a product voucher of their choice of category. In order to unlock the next stages and product vouchers, customers need to upload their receipts.

Customers who have voted 3 times can then enter the online voting for an even higher chance to win the Mega Prizes.

Guardian customers are encouraged to do this MVB Hunt first before doing their online voting because there are more opportunities to earn product vouchers.

To qualify to vote online, Guardian customers need only spend a minimum of RM10 in a single receipt at the store or online. Then log on to https://mvb19.guardian.com.my/#/onlinevoting. Voting can be done anytime between 5 September and 29 September 2019.
