MRCA Charity and Carnival Run 2017 is proudly co-organised by
MRCA and McMillan Woods, with the Ministry
of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) as supporting
sponsor; and MRCA Corporate Patrons – Maxis,
Maybank, Fusionex and Mastercard.
Other sponsors include Lotto, Seth Learning Garden Sdn Bhd, DTCK Corporation Sdn Bhd, and Valiram Group.
Mouse mommy and MR were
excited to kick-start the run in the morning at The Place, One City, Subang
Jaya. Yes! Let’s run together! After the run, we got our
“C” shape medal of MRCA run!
They are many vendor booths available for the
runners to redeem the sponsored products such as Chinese Herbal Jelly Powder,
Himmel Dehydrated Fruit packs, banana from AIA Vitality, Good Morning healthy
drinks, Jussu fresh carrot juice and so on.
Mouse mommy and MR love the
Himmel dehydrated fruits! Mouse mommy and MR were loved to eat the dehydrated
red dragon fruit, it is naturally sweet and taste nice without feeling guilty
to enjoy it!
The Malaysian Retail Chain Association (MRCA), in collaboration with McMillan Woods, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK)
along with major retailers, has successfully raised over RM100,000 through the MRCACharity and Carnival Run 2017, held at OneCity, Subang Jaya today. This
amount will be donated for the betterment of 10 selected charitable homes in
the city. Guest of Honour Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr. M Kayveas, Special Advisor to
the Minister of Transport, flagged off the annual run.
Themed “Care, Share & Run,” the event
managed to attract more than 3,000 runners this year. There were also a total
of 550 children from orphanages who were invited by the association to join in
for the fun and games at the event’s specially-curated kids carnival.
The children from charity
homes were enjoying the run and have fun in the carnival too! Colourful
balloons with happening performance and games bring laugh and happiness to
everyone! Such a thoughtful ideas of the organiser!
Malaysian well-known
celebrities such as Amber Chia, Carrie Lee, Debbie Loo, Amelia Lee, Janice
Choong, Crystal Lee and Owen Yap also attended the event; taking centre stage
as run ambassadors.
Dato’ Choi Wei Yee, the Organising Chairperson, expressed
that, “We are overjoyed that the committee has managed to organise yet another
successful charity run. Through this event, MRCA has garnered over RM100,000 –
exceeding our targeted goal.”
“This fourth edition charity
event proves MRCA’s continuous vision to give back to the society. We believe
that through this, we have brought a smile to the faces of these beautiful
children as well as senior citizens – this would have been an impossible feat
without the support of our fellow Malaysian retailers as well as the public,”
added Dato’ Choi Wei Yee.
The proceeds from this event
will be donated to Rumah Charis,
Angel Homes, Good Kids, Juara Home, Ace
Lighthouse Academy Bhd, Kiwanis
Club of Kluang Mandarin, Home
of Love, Rumah Sayangan,
Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras,
and Good Samaritan Homes.
Dato’ Seri Raymond Liew, McMillan Woods Global founder and president,
reiterated, “We, at McMillan Woods, are proud to collaborate with MRCA to
present this successful charity event which gives the public a platform to do
good for the society. We believe that it’s impossible for one to help everyone;
but everyone can help one person.”
Dato’ Garry Chua, President of MRCA, echoed, “We are happy
to see such strong support for our annual charity event. We hope that the
support of MRCA, along with the nation’s major retailers, will inspire
commitment from other corporate bodies to our cause of bringing hope, strength
and joy to these underprivileged Malaysians for the betterment of their lives.”
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Datuk
Seri Dr. M Kayveas said, “I am extremely thankful to be here today as the guest
of honour for MRCA’s charity event. This is a great CSR initiative by MRCA and
I’m proud to see the Malaysian society coming together to make this event a
success in the hopes of benefiting these charity homes.”
There were a total of 34
trophies and prizes worth RM40,000 up for grabs from the Men’s Open (10.8km), Men’s Veteran (10.8km), Women’s Open (10.8km), and Women’s Veteran (10.8km) categories.
There were also non-competitional Men’s
5.3km and Women’s 5.3km
categories, along with a Team Run
category, consisting of four members per team, where each runner was required
to complete a 900 meter run (Relay).
